30 Super Street Fighter IV 2nd ultras

super30-postimgAfter getting an astounding response to the compilation video I made yesterday of Super Street Fighter IV 2nd Ultra videos, harvested from around the net, I was blown away.

I’ve had messages on Youtube, Xbox Live and through the website. Thanks to everyone who was appreciative of what I did and passed the links around.

Special thanks to Eventhubs for featuring my video on their homepage. I’ve ended up with the following awards from Youtube as I post this;

#3 - Most Viewed (Today)

#88 - Most Viewed (Today) - Global

I’d like to point out again though, that I’m just responsible for compiling and editing some video together. The real thanks goes to the players who attended the playtest and spent their time recording new ultras and gameplay for the community.

This goes out to them. After a bunch of requests and great messages I’ve gotten a hold of some additional ultra videos, as well as a couple better quality ones and put together an update to the original ultras video.

Check it out and leave comments below!

Left 4 Dead 2 Adrenaline & Katana Brutality video

l4d2I know Left 4 Dead 2 has been out for a little while now, but I didn’t pick it up on release.

No particular reason. I just had a lot of work on before Christmas and was still playing a lot of Street Fighter IV.

Anyway, I’ve finally bought it from Steam and I’m loving it. I’ve been playing games most evenings this week with my brother and an old TF2 mate.

There are a lot of reasons to love L4D2. New maps, new weapons, new special infected, new music, new characters. Well, maybe not so much the new characters. They aren’t quite as good as the old L4D mob. It could be nostalgia speaking, but I loved those guys. Ellis is my favourite out of the new bunch.

I’ve been trying to convince a couple of friends to grab a copy of Left 4 Dead 2, but I’ve not been having much success. Then I realised the other night what part of the game elevated the intensity of the Left 4 Dead experience for me, and really made L4D2 stand out.

Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present “Left 4 Dead 2 Adrenaline & Katana Brutality”

P.S. If anyone fancies a game I’m Jeemer on Steam. I don’t really play FPS games on consoles.

21+ second Ultras from Super Street Fighter IV

20ultras

Capcom Unity ran their playtest event for Super Street Fighter IV last night.

Players got to try out some of the new cast, as well as seeing what tweaks have been made to existing characters. The build being played yesterday was the one with the 4 blank character slots, so anyone worried about the recent post-famitsu stream pic with those 4 blank slots removed can now calm down.

Some of the new ultras were tested out by the community and uploaded to various places online.

I’ve grabbed a few of them and compiled them together into one video for your viewing pleasure.

I also uploaded a separate video of the new Viper Ultra, Burning Dance.

They’re both available to view below.

First Smashing Pumpkins song released from new album

sp_main

So, for the benefit of anyone who doesn’t know me that well; the Smashing Pumpkins were the band who opened my eyes to music.

I still rank their 1995 double album, Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness as my favourite album of all time, despite the fact that I have not listened to it for some time.

I feel that the album perfectly manages to convey a number of emotions while traversing an immense sonic landscape.

Anyway, now it’s years later. Following Jimmy Chamberlin’s decision to depart the Smashing Pumpkins, Billy CorganĀ  is now carrying on the moniker by himself.

Billy recently made the following announcement;

I’m happy to finally announce the plans for the new Smashing Pumpkins album.

Recording began yesterday, September 15th, 2009 on the new record which will be entitled ‘Teargarden by Kaleidyscope’. The album will feature 44 songs, 4 of which are now being recorded. My desire is to release a song at a time beginning around Halloween of this year, with each new release coming shortly after until all 44 are out. Each song will be made available absolutely for free, to anyone anywhere. There will be no strings attached. Free will mean free, which means you won’t have to sign up for anything, give an email address, or jump through a hoop. You will be able to go and take the song or songs as you wish, as many times as you wish.

Apparently, December 7th is around Halloween. Today the new song, “Song For a Son” was put out online.

I’ve not made my mind up about this song yet, but have a listen and let me know what you think. As far as I’m aware since all the music on this album will be free, and free means free, there should be no legal problems with this song being made available for download.

Click here to download Song for a Son.

If you can’t download at the moment, you can also listen to it online while getting creepy stares from Corgan himself;

More Super Street Fighter IV videos, and another Ono interview

more_ssf4

And there’s more!

Following the Super Street Fighter IV announcement yesterday, I can share a little more info and 3 more videos.

Firstly we have another interview with Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono. Then a little showcase of T-Hawk and new fighter Juri. Finally, another teaser trailer where we finally get to see Deejay in action!

Some facts that Ono confirms in his interview;

  • Capcom have been listening to the fans regarding lobbies. They are aiming to put in lobbies where you can view other people’s matches (should be excellent, watching my mates get their ass kicked in real time!)
  • There will be NO arcade release. He makes a big point in saying this, and apologises to arcade players.
  • There is no mention of a pc release. Unless this was a slip of the tongue (he doesn’t focus on it like the arcade issue) then Ono says it will only be a PS3 and Xbox 360 affair.
  • A little character info; Juri is working for, or has at least been helped out by S.I.N. - the company run by Seth

Enjoy;

T-Hawk Vs Juri:

Teaser trailer #2 (featuring Deejay):

Glad to finally see Deejay in action. What’s with the new announcer in the T-Hawk/Juri vid?

Who/what do you think is next to be announced? Leave your mark below!

Super Street Fighter 4 confirmed! Ono video and more…

ssf4_main

As everyone who knows me is well aware, I’m still hooked on Street Fighter IV.

I made it into G1E last night in Championship mode, and wake up today to the awesome news that Super Street Fighter IV has been confirmed!

Yoshinori Ono, producer on the SF4 development team has made a full announcement in an interview with Gamespot.

Some of the main points mentioned in the interview are as follows;

  • Aiming for a Spring 2010 release.
  • Around 8 new characters, including T. Hawk and the new Korean Taekwondo fighter Juri. Alledgedly Deejay has been confirmed too but I’ve yet to see proof of this. (Edit: Japanese magazine scan shows Deejay in action)
  • Changes will be made to the online system, with new features being added.
  • Character balance will be tweaked (I’m not a big Honda player but surely his EX headbutt will be made useful? First thing that came to mind.)
  • Ono intends to push for bonus stages to be included in SSFIV, so get ready to beat up some cars
  • The game will NOT be released as DLC, but will be on a disc. However, Ono states that it will be the price you would expect to pay for DLC.
  • There is also a little something special in store for people who keep their original SFIV discs, although what exactly that is has not been announced. Speculation seems to point at something along the lines of colors/personal actions being unlocked, or possibly alternative costumes?

I can’t wait, really looking forward to it. This also means my sucka-ass mates who are yet to get their hands on a copy can get saving for the release of Super.

(Edit: there have since been another couple of videos released, and another Ono interview - check this out afterwards - http://blog.paulietheboss.com/?p=256 )

Here’s the interview with Ono, complete with some Juri and T-Hawk gameplay in the background:

Batman: Arkham Asylum HD video review

Batman: Arkham Asylum

My grubby little paws hoovered up a copy of the new Batman game from the shelves at Gamestation on Friday, which was the UK release date.

I completed it on Saturday, but I’ve put together an HD Youtube video review of it, for your viewing pleasure.

Check it out, remember to watch in HD!

Now that I’ve had a bit of practice, the editing, video and audio quality are vastly improved from the Shadow Complex 10 minute preview.

Have you played Arkham Asylum? Got any thoughts? Leave your say as a comment on this article.

Shadow Complex - Gameplay and first impressions

Shadow Complex

Shadow Complex was released today on Xbox Live Arcade.

After doing some research online I’ve bought a Dazzle capture card, so that I can digitally record and edit my gameplay of xbox games. I’ve created a video here, for you to see some of the first 10 minutes of Shadow Complex.

I’ve also outlined my ideas for possible future videos. Please subscribe on Youtube. I intend to make many more videos, and the quality of the recording and editing will only improve as I get used to this!

I’m also going to be integrating a video player to my site that will be based on my website server. I’ll post the best possible quality of video here, and put copies on Youtube.

Please do subscribe though, I’ll leave notes on videos if there is an alternate HD version here on paulietheboss.com

Leave comments on this article or my Youtube video to let me know what you think of the video. Thanks, I hope you enjoy the Shadow Complex video;
